Enough Mobile Broadband Capacity?

This morning Peter Cochrane, formerly head of BT’s research establishment was interviewed on Radio 4 (UK). A few years ago he was an advocate of ad hoc meshed WiFi networks as a means of delivering broadband to rural areas, but on this occasion he was asked about the lack of mobile broadband capacity provided by the operators in many areas. He advocated the deployment of femtocells in users’ homes and offices (making use of their existing fixed broadband connections) and the sharing of networks to improve both coverage and capacity.
