Robert is a highly experienced consultant and business director specialising in the telecoms industry. He has held senior posts in consultancy, business and marketing management with a number of major international businesses, and has extensive international experience as a consultant.
He has worked with many of the world’s leading telecommunications operators, equipment manufacturers, governments, regulators and bankers as well as start-up businesses. His work has included the development and implementation of market and business strategies and plans and sales and distribution plans, preparation of licence applications, new product and service development and launch, due diligence, bid evaluation, and project and programme management. He has also worked with a number of European governments on the development of regulatory policy.
He is the author of several reports on mobile and fixed telephony and multimedia networked services prepared for and published by the EC and the UK Department of Trade and Industry. He has had many articles published, and has regularly spoken at and chaired conferences.
Much of his career has been spent with blue chip companies, and he has held senior posts with Philips, Plessey, Digital Equipment Co., and PA Consulting.
His clients have included operators such as BT, Orange, 3, O2 (BT Cellnet), TeleDanmark, AT&T, Telefonica, Bell Atlantic, SBC and BTC; vendors, including Philips, Alcatel, Lucent, Unisys, IBM, Apple, NEC; governments and regulators including UK DTI, European Commission, PTS (Sweden), (Denmark), BMPT (Germany), and the Armenian, Bulgarian, Danish and Turkish Governments; and merchant banks including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Warburg Pincus
He has a degree in Engineering Science from the University of Warwick and is a Chartered Engineer. He is a Member of the IEE and IoD.
